Other than charmouth which other nearby towns are good place for hotels at reasonable price. Charmouth seems to be booked out for most of second week of august or too expensive.

We didnt find any fossils while we were here but the heritage centre (next to charmouth beach) will answer all your fossil hunting questions. They hire out hammers too. They also sell little books with fossil hunting guidance. Hope this helps.
