They were unearthed during a recent excavation of the city’s acropolis, according to an Aug. 9 news release from the Selinunte Archaeological Park. What are we learning about the past?
The park located in the town of Castelvetrano on Sicily's western coast about 80 miles south of Palermo. It is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and tickets cost 6 euros (about $6.70).
The archaeological site is open from 8 am to 8 pm daily between April and October and 8 am to 5 pm from November to March. The morning is the busiest time for visitors to arrive at the Acropolis.
