All active BYU students and faculty can host a Zoom Meeting. Individuals not associated with BYU can join a hosted Zoom Meeting.

Authenticated Users - zoom.byu.edu
BYU has set authenticated users for meetings as the default. It allows meeting hosts to restrict participants who can join the meeting to only those who have an active account in the byu.edu domain. When using this option, it’s best to communicate to attendees ahead of time they will need to sign in through zoom.byu.edu first.
Basic Safety Information - Zoom
It is always important to use your BYU Zoom account rather than a personal account. If you are logging in at zoom.byu.edu, use [email protected] to login. 1. Click the Sign In button. 2. Sign in with SSO. 3. Use byu (byu.zoom.us) as the SSO option. Don't share the link to your meeting on public sites, unless it's a public meeting.
Enable and Disable Screen Share and Annotation for Participants
Annotation allows participants to write or draw messages in your Zoom meeting that will be visible to all if it is enabled. Screen Sharing allows participants to show the contents of their screen including the desktop, applications, videos they are playing, etc.
Mute and Unmute Participants - Zoom
Control this for all meetings in your zoom.byu.edu Settings. 2. If you don’t want to mute participants upon entry for all meetings, you can do so when you schedule your meeting. Do not allow participants to unmute themselves while in the meeting. Click Participants on the meeting control bar. Click More in the Participants Panel.
Manage Video - Zoom
To set participant’s Video off when they join use Settings on zoom.byu.edu. Be aware, however, that participants can turn their Video on after they enter the meeting. If a participant is displaying unwanted Video in a meeting, the host has three primary options to handle it.
Protect Meetings - Zoom
Protect Your Zoom Meetings from Zoombombing. What is Zoombombing? Zoombombing is the term for uninvited guests that join Zoom meetings and disrupt the meeting by sharing violent and/or pornographic imagery, racist rants, hate speech or other comments meant to disturb the meeting participants.
Security Changes Coming to Zoom - zoom.byu.edu
Effective 27 September 2020, Zoom will be implementing changes for added security by requiring either a Passcode or Waiting Room. If you do not enable a Passcode or Waiting Room then Zoom will enable a Waiting Room for your meetings.
Waiting Room - zoom.byu.edu
1. Sign into zoom.byu.edu, and select Settings on the left menu. 2. Navigate to the Waiting room option under In-Meeting (Advanced), and verify the setting is enabled. If you don’t have this set for all your meetings you can do so for individual meetings when you schedule them
