Recently, a talented CAD user (who was building a grinder off my plans) was courteous enough to model the grinder and each part within a CAD platform and print the plans to PDF.

2015年7月31日 · i have been looking at the different 2x72 belt sander plans out there. Is there any consensus on a favored design? I have a quantity of 1/4" plate and 2x2 thick and thin walled tubing and angle, couple spare motors on hand with the requisite tools (welder, drill press, antique mill and lathe) and was thinking of buildng one for knife grinding.

2009年7月13日 · Most of us would just create a mess. Maybe the shop that cuts that material could do some of the longer drilling for you. In past grinder WIP threads, there have been some alignment issues that created tracking problems stemming from lack of squareness in multiple directions. For $750, this is not a bad deal at all:

2007年10月17日 · Personally I would never build my own (I did once, never again). I would rather work some over time and pay for a grinder already made, or make knives and sell them - than making my own grinder. I originally made the no weld grinder. Probably 40 hrs into making it, plus the cost of the wheels and motor.

2019年12月14日 · I built one (loosely) based on those plans. It is a great grinder, but I would make one modification and use a 10" plate of aluminum on the motor side. This would allow the motor to be mounted a bit lower so the top tool arm would clear it. That allows you to use the same (long) arm for different tools by moving it in and out.

2017年3月20日 · Keeping the tension arm parallel in nominal conditions keeps the hinge in relation to the axis of the belt where it will provide the most and most consistent tracking adjustment per angle of increment. As it swings out of parallel, the movement becomes more and more unrelated to the belt, and belt tension against the hinge is decreased.
