2009年1月27日 · Prepping the surface is critical and some sanding will most certainly be involved. Be sure to wear a QUALITY respirator while sanding/blasting. You can paint over CARC with CARC, but you'll need to prime any bare metal with the correct (epoxy?) primer. CARC tends to let water through easily and if you paint it over bare metal, it'll rust quickly...

2009年8月26日 · The only reason CARC is so cheap for companies to purchase is that the formulation was given to them by the government. Is CARC the best paint for MV use? Hell no! I formulate and test all types of coating systems for an aerospace company. CARC would not be my first choice for a paint system if price were not an object.

2010年1月26日 · There are three other options: 1. Chemical/carc strip. This might take off the O.D., that would be o.k., as I would not want to prep the metal ( wash, sand/steel wool). 2. Using a heat gun & scraper (plastic or metal). 3. Using a high pressure washer. I think # 3 would work best, followed by #2.

WD CARC is dangerous, but it’s exactly as dangerous is traditional 2-part (2K) automotive paints used every day in the body shop / paint industry.

2010年1月26日 · I imagine that the localized areas of paint popping if closely inspected will show that the CARC was either damaged in that area or that the CARC coating was thin in those areas. Since you area talking about a fork truck, you could throw some 80 grit sand paper on a DA sander and feather the popped areas out, then spot prime.

I realized that all I was doing was removing the rough texture that would help adhere the Raptor liner. I pressure washed first. Then addressed any peeling paint. Next I wiped it down...

2009年1月27日 · My experience with different coatings over carc has been mostly a toss up. I have used Behr latex paint, rattle can from krylon, Rust O leum, and others. It will initially stick but if there is bare patches of metal, the carc will start to lift at the edges with the other type of paint.
