2023年3月28日 · V5 to V6 (3DEXPERIENCE CATIA) is much less of a change, but all the same buttons are there. Part design, assembly design, generative shape design are all 90% the same, just a new UI. So in terms of CAD, if you know V5 you can quickly move to V6 with little to no training. That wasn't the case for V4 to V5.

2022年1月22日 · The biggest struggle for me was moving from V5 with Teamcenter integration for PLM to V6 with its own native PLM inbuilt. Like everything, it takes some getting used to. Modelling wise, not a vast difference (although you can cross-section in part modelling workbenches in V6 rather than being limited to it being an assembly operation).

Archeic and buggy UI + missing tools that are more or less standard in most other CAD software + awfull support + little to no user community + paywalled basic training + constant crashes = hot garbage.

V6 requires dassaults PLM to use, as in there are no more local files, which is a pain for those who don't want use the plm software, but from a project management side, its apparently a good improvement.

2021年1月23日 · CATIA V5 was released in 1998 What makes CATIA difficult for users is that it's sketcher has strict rules, and it's commands don't guess what you want much. In fact for CATIA V5s loft command (multi sections surface) I didn't know a couple functions for years because the interface labeled them poorly!

They didn’t make it easy to transition. If you wanted V6 you absolutely had to use ENOVIA V6. Switching from ENOVIA V5, or a competitor, would be a colossal undertaking. Really stupid business decision. I haven’t touched CATIA in years, but I think they’ve changed direction and are trying to market the products separately now.

2020年1月30日 · I think that they released Catia v6 standalone to v5. V6 is later known as 3D Experience. It has compability with Catia v5 so you can design in Experience and open in v5 and vice versa. V5 is the old Catia used by many large corporations and transition is slow since they are slow to trust cloud-based systems. In v5 you have your own license server.
