2016年2月9日 · the clam was gliding over the snow, but not me. what a workout. so i got to the lake, and started checking ice conditions. 5 feet from shore, i punched a whole with about 10 inches of ice. another 5 feet out, another 10 inches, things are looking good!! so i managed to get out about 25 feet from shore, to find that the ice was 10 inches thick!!!

2021年2月21日 · Lol! Most summer fishing gear dosen't cross over to ice fishing and you would go broke trying to gear up for a few days. The previous recommendation to find a guide for Higgins or Houghton Lakes would be a good idea. A guide could put you on Lake Trout, Rainbows, Browns Walleye or even Pike. Unless you find a local to let you tag along.

2015年1月11日 · It seems like there isn't a lot of folks fishing lake Helena proper, everyone just hits the causeway. I know quite a few folks hit the main part of the lake in the spring but I rarely see a lot of people out on the ice on lake Helena itself.

2010年12月13日 · Well, i have quite a bit of ice fishing experience fishing for coldwater fish, and do very well on brookies and salmon. However, even though i have fished many, many times for brown trout, i almost always come up empty, even on lakes where many browns exist. The only time i usually catch browns is accidently on a brookie set.
