2012年3月4日 · When forging knives, I teach my students to think in terms of volume. It's not that hard to figure the approximate volume of the knife. Then choose the appropriate size of stock. My knife stock is 1/4"x1 1/2" x 48". I just cut off a piece and forge to shape.You can always give yourself a little wiggle room.

Really, anything will do though. I have a new 150# Emerson sitting in the shop that i never use, I forge on the old fisher instead.

Nothing I found made me believe it was viable, and many things I found speak against it. The forging temp ranges for stainless steels are very narrow, and very specific to each type.
