2016年6月24日 · I have the mallory unilite distributor with the mallory 29219 internally resisted coil and am running a ballast resistor wire and am still getting 9.8v at the + side of the coil with the engine running. From what I have read in different forums, the coil voltage engine running should be around 7-9 volts.

I need to shorten the wire anyway and I might put a disconnect on the wire to the distributor, so I don't worry about it. Many aftermarket electronic ignition conversions are known to fail if the ignition is on without the engine running. It was my fault.

2020年8月21日 · The ignition module inputs need to be tested, verify the power & ground is good, test the trigger by measuring the magnetic pickup resistance and the signal can be tested with your multimeter set to AC volts while cranking. If all the inputs test OK, the module has most likely failed, replacement ignition modules are available.

2003年9月4日 · Just did a new installation of a MSD 6AL using the existing Mallory Comp 9000 (Unilyte). The question I have is that mallory instructions have always shown to use a ballast resistor before power to the unilyte pickup to keep it from burning up. MSD 6AL instructions suggested to not use a ballast resistor.

The wiring for the Unilite requires an inline ballast so the wire for the switched 12 volt source for the distributor and the 6AL are wired directly to the stock harness coil wire that has a built in resistance.
