I have a 2003 PT Cruiser also. Beginning this summer my tires started losing air. I am topping up every week or two. Last week while out of town I got a flat. The tire dealer told me the internal corrosion caused by the aluminum wheels was breaking the seal and deteriorating my tires. He told me this is a problem he has seen several times.

I am currently on my 2nd PT Cruiser, a 2006 Signature Model, the previous was a 2002. The 2002 model had multiple issues with the wheels and steering wheel, the tires were always deflating.

What year PT Cruiser and wheel/tire combination do you have. The Goodyear Eagle LS tires that were put on the 2001-2 Cruisers were problematic. There were a lot of complaints of vibration problems that were tire related.

Next were the tires, Good year, it seperated, so it was replaced. Then at 20,000 it needed new brakes, then again at 40,000. all highway miles. Then 2 more good year tires separated, 41,000, and good year knew they had a problem and did not recall the tires but pulled them off the market.

Took it to my mechanic after the dealer said it was tire problems. The mechanic of 20yrs predicts it to be the powertrain. Vibration in the steering wheel while in idle, vibrates at 40-45 mph then with new tires at 60mph. Dealer put new brand tires on it, problem not solved. The dealer told me the PT basic cruiser has the vibration characteristics.
