Shell Rotella T5 Diesel Oil - OK In Gasoline Engine?
2014年7月7日 · My friend has given me two 5 litre jugs of Shell Rotella T5 synthetic-blend 15W-40 motor oil for diesel engines. It's rated CH-4, CI-4, CJ-4, and CK-4, but there are no corresponding gasoline-engine ratings.

So, with all this in mind, I shot them an email. The following is their response: Mr. Wickerham, Rotella T 5w-40 meets both the API CJ-4 and SM specifications.

Apparently the synthetic T6 was only available in 5w40 for many years, so if you wanted a Rotella 15w40, you were looking at the T4 "Dino" oil. I've been very happy using T4 15w40 in my Nighthawk 750 (air cooled inline 4) and my Shadow 750 (liquid cooled V-Twin).

2010年11月11日 · When I get back to Coney Island I will change my oil to a blend of Shell Rotella, Triple Protection 15w40 and Formula Shell 5w20 all in API-SM. I plan on using 3 quarts of each in the sump for a 6 month run. Lots of Stop and Go traffic and short trips in NYC so this blend of oil should help clean the engine and give them added protection.

2012年4月17日 · Mercruiser's own oil is multi-weight. I would get Rotella T 15W40. The 15W40 and 40 will be the same viscosity at operating temp, just the 15W40 will flow better at startup. I do not see any reason to use a straight weight oil. The guy who rebuilt the engine may know machining but doubt he is an oil expert. Why did it need rebuilding?
