A sphinx (/ s f ɪ ŋ k s / SFINKS; Ancient Greek: σφίγξ, pronounced; Boeotian: φίξ, romanized: phíx, pronounced; pl. sphinxes or sphinges) is a mythical creature with the head of a human, the body of a lion, and the wings of an eagle.
