2022年7月25日 · 2014 was the first year in the US for the CVT on the Forester. According to Consumer Reports -- which collects data annually on many thousands of cars owned by its members -- the Forester transmission (in the category "transmission major") has had at least average reliability (compared to all other cars of the same year) every year since 2015.

Bad design. Never again. 2012 Outback driven normally and maintained to spec. Subaru recall parts upgrades done around 70k. Transmission failed catastrophically at 86k. Second one lasted 12k. Subaru NA replaced both. Third CVT seems to be fine with about 30k miles. Never again will I buy a CVT Subaru— after ten Subies this is the last I’ll buy.

Earlier Subaru CVT bands were not very robust and prone to overheating on top of the notorious valve body issues. Modern ones I believe starting with 2019, subaru claims are build with a stronger chain system rather than the older hard rubber/steel band cvts.

2023年8月7日 · The downside, CVTs were built for light use applications. Subaru and many other car manufacturers use these in 250+ HP cars and add the ability to tow. On top of that, Subaru adds fake shift points so your optimal ratios and lack of shifting is gone. Since a CVT isn’t meant to shift, it’s fake shifts are jerky and just overall not smooth.

2021年9月15日 · As far as CVT's go, the Subaru lineartronic CVT uses a chain between the pulleys vs. a push belt like all of the others. Our transmission guy says that out of all of the CVT's out there, the Toyota unit with the "launch gear" and the Subaru units are the best. Although he did say that Nissan/Jatco has really gotten better over the last 5 years.
