With strong winds forecast it’s good to give your climbing roses an autumn prune to reduce height and prevent them rocking about through the winter months. Snip off any old string or twine and aim to take 30cm off the leading stems, cutting to an outward facing bud. Bend each stem as horizontally as possible and tie in with twine fixing securely. Shrubs roses can be given a light prone too, a third off each stem back to a bud to reduce the chance of it being damaged in the wind. #roses #pruning
