Luffa is one of the most rewarding plants we've ever grown in the garden. You can eat it when young, let it climb all over your garden for a beautiful aesthetic, AND harvest it when it matures, cut it up, and use as a scrub brush or shower sponge. The trick to growing luffa is to start it early indoors. The seeds are large and hard, so clipping or scraping a TINY bit of the edge will help moisture get inside the seed and speed up sprouting. Once sprouted, transplant outside when there is NO risk

Growing Luffa for the first time was a highlight of our 2022 gardening season. Kimberly and the boys helped at every step! We readied the trellis, planted the seeds, and watched them sprout and quickly take over more space than we had planned.
