Belly Breathing Diaphragmatic or belly breathing has several benefits, primarily impacting the vagus nerve, the body's longest nerve. This breathing technique stimulates the vagus nerve, contributing to increased stress reduction. It involves moving the abdomen to facilitate air movement through the lungs, enhancing blood flow. Also, as the abdomen expands during this process, the space for the heart is reduced, causing the heart rate to slow down, which aids in relaxation and stress management.
